What a week!!

From Philip Fulmer leaving our beloved Vols, to a new president of our country, to my husband shooting a nail through his thumb with a nailgun..........yep, it's been a week!!
After 17 years, coaching at his alma mater, Phil is stepping down. In my opinion, it's time to have some new blood, but it was also emotional. Watching him announce it got me a little teary eyed, until I realized.....THIS MAN IS GETTING PAID 6 MILLION DOLLARS!!! That boils down to $125, 000.00 a month. WOW!! Could you live off of that?!?! I know I wouldn't have a bit of a problem! We are anxious to see who will be coaching our volunteers next year.
On Tuesday evening, Matthew and I sat around the house watching the election coverage on t.v. Although the candidate we voted for did not win, we are staying optimistic with the one chosen. I can only hope that Obama has good things in store for us. I'm anxious to see his plans unfold. God is in control!!!
And, last, but certainly not least, I got a phone call from Matthew yesterday evening telling me about his adventurous day. Seriously, does this kind of stuff only happen to MY husband?! hehe..
He is working on framing a house this week, and shot a nail straight through his thumb with a nailgun. Bless his heart!! He said it happened around noon, but didn't call me until he was on his way home because "he didn't want to stress me out." Sweet, huh?! Luckily, when he went to the clinic, an xray showed that it missed the bone by a hair. Literally. The doctor couldn't believe it. Matthew was very thankful, as this would have meant surgery if it hit the bone. (sigh of relief) Glad that's over.
Oh, and pics are soon to come from our Nashville trip this past weekend. Delaine and I had a wonderful time!

We're Pregnant!!!!

On Friday, October 18th, we found out that we're expecting a baby! What better time to start a blogspot than now, right?! What a wonderful way for everyone to see our journey through these nine months.
I took an at home test that afternoon after work, and could not believe that it said positive!! I yelled for Matthew, saying "Come in here, you've got to see this!!" (he was taking a nap) Later he told me he was thinking "what is in this house that I've "gotta see." We just looked at each other and grinned from ear to ear. We had been trying for this little miracle since August...didn't take too long!! :) After a few minutes of holding each other and laughing and maybe a few tears from me, we went to spread the news. Of course we couldn't keep it in!! Here are a few pics that we took that evening.

Matthew, Uncle Tony (thank goodness I washed that stick off!! haha) Aunt Melissa and me
Aunt Melissa was so excited!
My mother-in-law, Delaine jumped up and down when we told her the news!
We put the stick in a box of old things that belonged to my grandmother. We told her we had discovered the box and wanted her to see what was inside. She was a little confused, since we had woke her up from her nap, but once she figured out that we were pregnant, she cried! Nana Pam is so excited, as is Aunt Allie, Mia, Konner, and Crawdaddy!

I went to my family doctor on Wednesday, and got a confirmation. I'm 5 weeks preggo, with an estimated due date of June 26th. 2 days before my birthday!! We wanted to spread the news because #1, we are so stinkin' excited that we couldn't keep it in, and #2, we wanted all who know and love us to pray for us and our 'lil bun in the oven!! We are on Cloud 9!!

Today is Oliver's 31st birthday! Hope you have a great one!

I'm new at this.....

So, after visiting The White House blogspot, I figured I would give this a try. What a lovely way for our friends and family to see the latest in the life of the McGhee's. (like we are so interesting or something! haha) Enjoy!!
